GUIDELINES FOR NSTP ROTC CADETS AND CADETTES

  1. OBJECTIVES

a.         To provide ROTC cadets with the fundamental concepts & principles of military art & science to develop leadership & managerial potential.

b.         To develop strong sense of personal integrity, honor, responsibility & good citizenship.

c.         To attract, motivate & prepare selected students to serve as Commissioned Officers in the active or reserve force in the Philippine Army.

  1. SPECIFIC POLICIES

    1. No compromise in the implementation of all policies (religious and political beliefs are not reason for exemption).

    2. No illegal / anomalous activities will be tolerated.

    3. No MAKE-UP training except on two (2) cases only.

(a)    School activities duly approved by the President.

(b)   Emergency cases involving life and death (to be determined by the Commandant) Sick not in hospital or seriously ill should report at the DMST office. No physical presence or prior coordination thru messenger or phone call means absent without make-up.

    1. Light duty cadets / cadettes will be seriously in CMO (Civil Military Operation) activities.

    2. Demerits / Merits system will be imposed. Remember that class “A” offense can also cause your failure in the course. Read and understand carefully the Merit and Demerit system. Attend and participate in the activities. The merits you gain can help you and your grades.

    3. Authorized number of absences is only THREE (3). The 4th absence means failed with a grade of 5.00. (Use your authorized absences properly)

    4. Grade computation.

Attendance ---------------- 30%            Passing grade--------------- 75% or 3.00

Proficiency ---------------- 40%

Aptitude -------------------- 30%

(A cadet / cadette who passed the attendance and the proficiency aspect of the grading system will pass the course. If you have a perfect attendance but have a score below 70 points in your graded test, you will fail the course. Only one re-take exam will be authorized).

    1. Complaints about grades and attendance will not be entertained after seven
      (7) days effective upon publication of report / results. It is your responsibility to check your grades and attendance and any publication / directives at least twice (2) a week.

    2. Authorized hair cut for cadets (male) is 2x3 clean cut. Not exceeding the eyebrows and ears. Beards and mustaches must be kept and clean. Authorized hair accessory for cadettes (female) is Boknai.

    3. Civilian accessories are not to be worn during training.

    4. Cellular phones are not allowed to be used during training.

  1. It is your right to attend the ROTC course and to have long hair and mustache and shabby uniforms. However, be reminded also that the training team has also the right to give you Demerits, charge you with a class “A” offense and drop you if you continue violating policies.

  1. Reminder- Do not try to circumvent policies / engage in anomalous or test the system, in order to pass the course.

             BY ORDER OF THE COMMANDANT: 


LIST OF OFFENSES AND DEMERITS

CLASS “A” OFFENSE: (Punishable by Discharge) Gross disrespect to a superior Officer, abuse of authority, illegal collection, and destruction of Military or School property.

           Any cadet or cadet officers who, in the case of the former, abuse his authority or mishandle his subordinates, or in both case, assaults a superior officer under pretext whatsoever, is caught cheating examinations, collecting fees or contribution for among members of the cadet corps without express authority of the ROTC Commandant utterly ignores and violates standing instruction; deliberately mutilates, destroy or commits unserviceable Military or School property; or commits any act similar in nature and category to the aforementioned offense shall be discharge without prejudice to the enrollment in other units, as the ROTC Commandant may direct.

 CLASS “B” OFFENSE: (6-10 Demerits) Grave Misdemeanors

Any cadet or cadet officers who talks to a superior officer in a begrudging and hostile manner, disobey legal orders from the superiors; deliberately says things and proven to be false-hoods; making boisterous remarks or catcalls at any woman while in rank or in any prescribe formation, is found sleeping in class room or any areas of instruction while such is being conducted; reports late in any formation or place of assembly; smoke cigarettes  while or during training or commits any acts similar in nature and category to the aforementioned offense shall be awarded disciplinary action and not less than six (6) demerits as the ROTC Commandant may direct.

CLASS “C” OFFENSE: (4-5 Demerits) Less Grave Misdemeanors

Any cadet or cadet who slouches in ranks, knowingly walks in un-tucked upper garment of uniform; spits while in rank; roll his eyeball or does any act detrimental to discipline while at or in parade rest or in ranks; chew gums or tobacco when in ranks or when reporting to an officer, carelessly lays aside his rifle; wears a dirty uniform or commits any act similar in nature and category to the aforementioned officer shall be awarded disciplinary action  and not more than five (5) demerits as the ROTC Commandant may direct.

   CLASS “D” OFFENSE: (1-3 Demerits) Minor Misdemeanor and Omissions

                         Any cadet or cadet officer without a name plate or insignias corresponding to his rank; with shoes wrongly tied; with not kept and long hair; mustache and beard; any cadet or cadet officer wearing a uniform other than the one as prescribed, malingering, falling from ranks without permission; standing on one leg; leaning or sitting on his rifle, drops or lazily drags his rifle; or commits any acts similar in nature and category to the aforementioned offense shall be awarded disciplinary action and not more than three (3) demerits as the ROTC Commandant may direct.
